| Explore the world of willow crafts in our one-day introductory course. Make small willow structures such as colourful trays and plant supports using locally grown willow. Find out how to grow your own willow and how to prepare and store your willow rods. All materials are included, plus take home a few cuttings to plant in your garden. |

| Wildwood is looking for an army of volunteers to help us in our search for harvest mice in Kent. Join us for a fun family day to help look for harvest mice and map their whereabouts in the Herne Bay/Whistable area.
Plus as a special thank-you for your help we are offering a free Wildwood entry ticket for every volunteer. |

| - Help to search for harvest mice in your local area.
- Meet a tiny harvest mouse, Britain’s smallest rodent.
- See examples of harvest mouse nests.
- Learn all about the lives of harvest mice.
- Discover the natural history of the local area.
Volunteers will be asked to take a stroll through the local area to look out for signs of harvest mice and to record their findings. The results will go towards the Kent Harvest Mouse Survey; Wildwood’s ambitious conservation project which aims to establish the status of this elusive creature throughout Kent.

Introduction to Amphibian Ecology & Surveying |

| An introduction to native British amphibians covering the indentification of Kent's frogs, toads and newts as well as their basic ecology. We will look at what makes a good amphibian pond as well as the different techniques that can be used to survey for amphibians. The day will conclude with a torchlight survey of a nearby amphibian population. |

| Find out why owls produce pellets and how to collect them. Practice dissecting pellets and learn how to identify small mammal remains from skeletal fragments. Plus visit some of the small mammals at Wildwood to see living examples of the species you have identified. |

| An introductory one-day course for beginners who wish to start identifying flowering plants. Learn how to recognise plant parts and key features in order to decide which family the plant belongs to and gain confidence in identifying plants at species level. The use of basic keys will be introduced. This course will also provide a basic grounding in plant identification for people interested in attending the Phase 1 habitat survey course on 29th May. |

Spring Foraging in Egerton |

In the days before supermarkets, foraged food traditionally formed a large part of our diet. This one-day introductory course will teach you how to forage safely (and within the law), how to discover easily recognisable edible plants and some tasty ways to prepare them. We will forage in a variety of local sites before returning to cook and sample our fare.

| A classroom & field based introduction to Phase 1 Habitat Survey methods to map and record vegetation sites. For professionals or those working towards a career in this field. Learn to recognise key indicator plant species in order to identify broad habitat types and gain confidence in writing target notes. An ideal follow-up course for those who have completed the Plant Identification course on 7th May. |
